Virus – Medication Coupled with Prophetic Methods.

All praise belongs to Allah and peace and blessings be upon the final messenger Muhammad:

It is probably true that this may be the moment of maximum spread of the virus. This should also be time for us to increase in turning back to Allah beseeching Him begging for His mercy. Our guide in all matters the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم taught us the Dua can halt even the Qadr from decending.

Whilst it is recommended to pursue a course of medication if afflicted, our prophet too showed us many methods through which cure can be attained for any sickness.

Reading the Quran for Ruqyah like Surah al- Fatihah .

Giving charity, the Prophet recommended to treat the sick with Sadaqah.

Using honey as Allah informed us regarding medicinal nature of honey.

Hijaamah is a well established treatment.

Using Senna leaves also.

And also saying with hand placed on the place of pain.

بسم الله، ثلاثَا، أعوذ بعزة الله وقدرته من شر ما أجد وأحاذر،

Bismillaah. Three times With the Name of Allah (three times).

Then say :’A’oothu billaahi wa qudratihi min sharri maa ‘ajidu wa ‘uhaathiru.I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find and of what I guard against.

Whilst I know we all know this reminder is always useful for us.

Whilst these are all causes for curing, Allah is the originator of all of causes. مسبب الأسباب.

Powerful Words

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When I say ‘Subhan Allah, wa’l-hamdu Lillah, wa la ilah ill-Allah, wa Allahu akbar (Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god except Allah, and Allah is Most Great)’, this is more beloved to me than all that the sun rises upon.” (Narrated by Muslim)  IMG_1625_edited

Shaykh Saleh al-Maghamsi mentions some points regarding the words
“subhanAllah, wal-hamdulillah, wa la ilah ill Allah, wa Allahu akbar. ” He (may Allah preserve him) says:

  • If you say these words they bring you closer to Allah.
  • They are the most beloved of words to Allah.
  • Nothing will harm you if you start saying these words.
  • Increasing in the rememberance of Allah is from the praised types of worship.
  • In the Quran Allah says in surah al Kahf verse forty six

“Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one’s] hope.”

What are the deeds that remain and are enduring? In the commentary of  ‘al baqiyaat al salihaat (the deeds which remain)’ it says that this is the speech  ” subhanAllah, wal-hamdulillah, wa la ilah ill Allah, wa Allahu akbar. “.

“For your blessings will be shown to me.” (An abandoned sunnah)

Often we are reminded to recite surah al kahf on Fridays as is the sunnah. However, there are other recommended actions (sunan) to perform on Fridays (the day of Jumu`ah) which are often not emphasised as much as reciting surah Kahf. Amongst those abandoned sunan of the day of Jumu`ah are sending an abundance of blessings upon the prophet (peace be upon him). We should make it a habit to send blessings on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon Him) continously and often, however we should especially make the effort on Fridays. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:  IMG_2168-0

“The best of your days is Friday. On that day Adam (peace be upon him) was created; on that day he died; on that day the Trumpet will be blown and on that day all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me, for your blessings will be shown to me.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?” He said, “Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets, peace be upon them.” 1

Thus, let us accustom ourselves to sending blessings upon the Prophet on Friday – the day of Jumu`ah – knowing that it will be presented to our beloved Prophet. So whether, you find yourself walking, driving, sitting, waiting for the bus/train, cooking, feeding your newborn baby or putting your toddler to sleep – whatever it may be don’t forgot to send blessings upon the Prophet – and even if you say “Allahumma salli wa sallim `ala Nabiyyina Muhammed” only once on Friday – know that you will not have only fulfilled the sunnah but you will also have the angels present your blessing to the Prophet from yourself. Keep your lips moist with Allahumma salli wa sallim `ala Nabiyyina Muhammed …
