But What He Gave Was Better Than What He Took

ما أنعم الله على عبد نعمة فانتزعها منه فعاض ( أي عوضه ) مكانها الصبر إلا كان ما عوضه خيراً مما انتزع

~ عمر بن عبد العزيز رحمه الله

Allah has not granted  His slave any blessing then taken it away and replaced it with patience, but what He has compensated them with is better than what He has taken away.  ~ Umar bin Abd Alazeez

Hazrat Umar bin Abd Alaziz was a very rich but nobel person he did not want to become a caliph but accepted it with reluctance. After that he survived on the grant from the baitul mal only. When he died his children were very young and when people asked his wife as to how will she make them survive her answer was very telling. “In case they take up the right path Allah will look after them but if not so I will have no concern about their future”
The above quote quote if remembered all the time the trust in Allah will multiply manifold
